Detail of painted core image after triangulation
Detail one of monumental Beach
Detail two
Original work, pigmented ink on four canvases, each 55x96 inches. Total work is 110 x 192 inches. An abstract figurative painting of a series of 60 scenes in various poses on a beach. This project turned out to be 60 separate paintings! I tried to keep the level of abstraction consistent, however, artwork takes on its own life and I sometimes just had to get out of the way.The work evolved from hundreds of composite aerial photographs, then painted and composed into the various scenes. The core painting (titled: Big Beach) was created from a photographic composite done in Painter on a digital tablet. The painting was done over a three month period. The core painting was reworked and painstakingly triangulated in the final image across four canvases. This triangulation method relates to pointillism and impressionism where small dots or brush strokes were used to abstract the figure and break it into small fragments of light. This work is inspired by the latest works of David Hockney that are on a monumental scale spreading across multiple canvases. The work is signed and giclee printed with pigmented ink on a museum quality canvas ,UV coated and stretched on 2 inch poplar stretcher bars. This Gallery wrapped canvas has a black border unless you state otherwise.Ready to hang. Hanging hardware included
