About The Artwork

Dynamic, colorful painting with collage elements on top. I painted all collage papers first with high quality acrylic paints and fixed them on the canvas with medium or acrylic glue for the heavier papers. The colors will not fade. The work is ready to hang (unframed).

Linda Coppens is a Belgian contemporary abstract painter living and working in Spain. Her richly textured, colorful, vibrant abstract paintings evolve from exploration and experimentation. They are inspired by life itself. She is fascinated by the human mind with all its complex mysteries and by the immense beauty of nature. Her works are centered on bringing forth positive and harmonious forces to balance the increasingly frenetic world we are living in. It is her mission to create paintings that offer a moment to pause, inhale and resurface. Linda’s works are extremely layered as she mixes mediums including acrylic paints, crayons, pencils, markers, etc. brought on the canvas or panel with all kinds of tools. She obscures any tangible point of reference, so that the viewer discovers new meaning in her work. In her early life, Linda was always scribbling and drawing but becoming an artist was not really an option in a family with no artistic antecedents. Linda was born in Aalst (Belgium), moved to Brussels where she studied at the VUB and got a Master in Psychology. But her interest in art remained and about twenty years later she decided to do it properly. She started a formal training at the Art Academy in Liedekerke (Belgium) where she obtained her drawing and painting certificate and discovered her passion for abstract art. She then explored art on her own, complemented with advanced art workshops. She started her way into the art world in 2009. For Linda, being an artist is about continually evolving, it’s about searching and finding her way as she creates. It’s about experimentation and keeping experimenting in order to evolve and be able to create works that astonish her.
